Our President's Message
It is my pleasure to announce the Seventeenth Annual Zonta Club of Woodstock Golf Classic. Our Classic will be held again at the Oxford Golf and Country Club (Craigowan) on Monday June 2, 2014.
Individual participation, community donations and sponsorships enabled our 2013 Classic to exceed a net proceed of $24,000. The generosity of this community has allowed our club to disperse over $275,000 throughout Oxford County during the Classic’s history. Participation in the 2014 Zonta Golf Classic will continue to assist women and girls in Oxford County.
The Zonta Golf Classic offers you the opportunity to not only have a wonderful day on the green with women; also the opportunity to assist women in this community and substantiate your interest in improving the health and status of women. If golfing is not your secret passion sponsorship or personal donation opportunities are still available.
In the past year the Zonta Club of Woodstock has given 3 bursaries for post secondary school education to students in Oxford County, monetary recognition to a high student participating in local Public Affairs initiatives, and sponsorship of the Oxford County Breast Cancer Survivors Dragon Boat Team. Our club has also partnered with many community organizations and financially supported programs such as Community Care Access Centre–Oxford, Big Sisters–Go Girls program, Domestic Abuse Services Oxford, Ingamo Homes, and Oxford County Children’s Aid and many more.
Consider participation in the Seventeenth Annual Zonta Golf Classic as a donor or golfer. Please feel free to contact Elaine Nadalin, 2014 Zonta Golf Classic Chair at 519-537-2604 or at elaine.n @isp.com.
International Women's Day Event Dinner 2014
Changing our format to an evening event has resulted in offering a keynote speaker, an international selection of food, silent auction, and rose sale. Several of these would not have been possible in the limited time allowable at a morning event. We are aware there are opportunities for us to improve and will be looking forward to offering an even better event next year.
We are very please to announce that aprroximately $3200 will be going to support Zonta International Projects. This would not have been possible if not for our sponsors, volunteers, event attendees, suppliers, and interested parties in the community. Thank you!

Zonta Says NO
The Success of Zonta Says NO Campaign due to partnership with Oxford Domestic Assault Review Team
The Zonta Club of Woodstock would like to sincerely thank Oxford Domestic Assault Review Team (DART) for their partnership in the “Zonta Says NO” Campaign to end violence against women and girls during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence.
Teaming up with DART has allowed our club to take this global message of ending violence against women and girls further. The campaign, with the endorsement of local media, has made local issues more visible. Our hope is that this will encourage members of our community who are close to “at-risk” women to assist in connecting those in need to the supportive resources available in Oxford County.
The “Zonta Says NO” Campaign reached out to Oxford County by distributing1250 oatmeal cookies prepared by Woodstock District Developmental Service’s Taste of Woodstock catering and 2200 ribbons formed by volunteers from Domestic Abuse Services and Ingamo Homes. A heartfelt thank you to: Oxford County OPP, Victims Assistance Services of Oxford County, Survivors Voices, College Avenue Secondary School students, Domestic Abuse Services Oxford, Woodstock General Hospital, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, St. Joseph’s Regional Sexual and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre, Canadian Mental Health Association, UNIFOR Local 636 and 2163, Ingamo Homes, Children’s Aid Society and Family Violence Counselling Program for participating in this campaign.
This has been an outstanding 16 Days (Nov. 25 – Dec 10) and has been made possible through the collaboration of many individuals and organizations who are committed to bringing awareness to the fact that gender violence is occurring in this community and that we as a members must recognize it and take action. The United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE Campaign to End Violence against Women campaign has proclaimed the 25th of every month as “Orange Day”. Take action and wear orange on the 25th!

The 2013 Zonta Golf Classic - A Success!
Monday, June 3rd on Oxford Golf & Country Club's (Craigowan) beautiful grounds turned out to be a wonderful day for everyone. The day was a cool 16 degrees, clear sky, and no rain in sight which delighted organizers and golfers alike!
The event started off with our Ball Toss fundraiser and from there golfers headed to the course right on time. All golfers were off the course in record time allowing for additional socializing and sampling of the cheese and fruit buffet before enjoying a fabulous meal and prize table draw.
Fundraising ticket purchases were made by golfers throughout the day and dinner guests prior to dinner. This year's event included themed prize tables and a new silent auction table of donated items from all over the County. Apparently, the new format and prizes were well received since the club was able to double funds raised through this manner.
We are very excited that net proceeds from this event will continue our efforts to assist women in Oxford County. Thank you to all sponsors, donors, golfers and volunteers that helped make this event the success it was! We will be posting our net proceeds and a few pictures in the near future. In the mean time check out our sponsors and donors and please support them with your purchasing power.
