International Women's Day 2013

International Women's Day is an occasion marked by women's groups around the world. Since its birth in the early socialist movement during the First World War, recognition of the day has grown. The United Nations officially declared 1975 as International Women's Year. In 1977 the United Nations solidified March 8th as the day to celebrate International Women's day worldwide. Each year thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements.

A huge thank you to all individuals attending our early morning breakfast.  Yes, 7 am is a bit early! 

Over 125 women and a few men were in the audience to hear Rose speak about moving forward and taking advantage of opportunity when it's presented to us. Thanks Rose for your words of encouragement.

The floral committee was delighted there was so much interest in obtaining our yellow roses that a very limited number went to the various banks in our community for public purchase.

As a result of such a successful event, we are very happy to announce that over $2500 was raised to support our Zonta International Projects.

Rose Cathy Handy
